The Sojourners are back to give another toe-tapping, hand-clapping concert to benefit Helping Hand at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland.
This men’s Gospel group from Bothell United Methodist Church, also has two South Whidbey members: Ron Myers and Doug Roraback. Piano player Dewey Forrester will wow the audience with his rapid-fire, ragtime-style piano playing. There will be old Gospel favorites and a few country standards such as the Cannonball Express.
Enjoy great Gospel music for the whole family AND help your neighbors with a donation to Helping Hand of South Whidbey. The concert is free, but a freewill offering will be taken. Help us raise funds over the critical summer months when funding is traditionally low. Last year Helping Hand made more than $58,000 in grants on behalf of 517 adults and 293 children to avoid utility shut-offs and eviction, plus other urgent needs. The charity is supported by 10 area churches, plus community donations.
Helping Hand of South Whidbey now has its own Facebook page which will feature news, videos, links and information relevant to concerns of our clients, volunteers, donors and the South Whidbey community as it touches upon assistance for people facing financial emergencies, and in particular eviction and utility shut-offs. Who We Serve
"Some people live paycheck to paycheck, walking a fence of financial instability.
Any emergency or life change can knock them off that fence, sometimes into a downward spiral of poverty.
Helping Hand volunteers show people that they are not alone, and provide some immediate financial relief and helpful advice."
